LIFTING

General Information
Lifting of the face means straining of the skin and wrinkles on the face together with straining of the muscles of the face. The cuts follow the skin flaps around the ears and in the hair, which in practice makes them invisible. Lifting may be performed together with fillers, laser resurfacing, dermabrasion and blepharoplasty depending on the case and the surgeon’s decision. It is performed under general anaesthesia.
Presently, lifting of the forehead is hardly ever practiced at all because of the availability of BOTOX, which delivers the same result and is far more easily borne by the patient. That makes the complicated endoscopic liftings of the forehead absolutely out of date.

What should patients know before a face lifting:
1.    They must not smoke cigarettes at least two weeks before the operation.
2.    They must not take Aspirin at least one week before the operation.
3.    Compulsory stay at hospital – 24 hours.
4.    Preliminary consultation with anesthetist and blood tests.
5.    After the operation there is substantial swelling and dark circles, which fade away after several days.
6.   Wearing a special bandage may be necessary.
7.    Patients must not wash their hair for several days after the operation /up to one week/ because of the scars on the skull.
8.   The stitches inside the hair are taken out 14 days after the operation.
9.    Patients should avoid dying their hair at least one month after the operation.

RHINOPLASTY

General Information
Rhinoplasty means surgical modeling of the nose after traumas or because of an aesthetic need. There are different techniques depending on the initial and final result, depending on whether it is necessary to affect the bone part or just the cartilage one, whether it is necessary to reduce the nostrils, transplant a cartilage or implant a prosthesis.
In aesthetic rhinoplasty the cut is made inside the nostrils and in that way no visible external scars remain.
General anaesthesia is necessary for the classic rhinoplasty when the bone structures are affected. Provided that only a slight correction of the soft cartilage front part of the nose is to be made, local anaesthesia may be used.

What should patients know before undergoing such operation:
1.    They must not take Aspirin one week before the operation.
2.    In case of a general anaesthesia consultation with an anesthetist is compulsory prior to the operation.
3.    Blood tests.
4.    In case of general anaesthesia a one-night stay at clinic is compulsory.
5.    After the operation dark circles around the eyes and on the cheeks appear, but they fade away after several days. There is no strong pain.
6.    During the post-operative period, tampons are inserted inside the nostrils, which remain for 2-3 days, and a cast bandage is placed over the nose, which remains for 10-14 days. The stitches resorb on their own.
7.    Do not blow your nose during the following two weeks and sleep on a tall pillow, or more than one pillows.
8.    Patients who wear glasses, especially heavy ones, should refrain from putting them on during the following 3-4 weeks.

BLEPHAROPLASTY

General Information
Blepharoplasty means surgical correction of the eyelids. It may be combined with laser resurfacing of the eyelids, fillers or lifting. When performed separately, it is executed under local anaesthesia. The upper eyelid is only lifted, while the lower one may include elimination of the fat pockets of the so-called pockets under the eyes. The cuts are made in the skin flaps and close to the eyelashes /of the lower eyelid/, which in practice makes the scars unnoticeable.

What should patients know:
1.    They must not smoke at least two weeks before the intervention.
2.    They must not take Aspirin one week before the intervention.
3.    After the operation dark circles and swellings may appear but they fade away in several days. Cold compresses are recommended on the day of the operation.
4.    The stitches and light plasters should remain for about five days and should be taken out afterwards.
5.    Sometimes applying ophthalmic solutions or unguents is necessary.
6.    If they wear contact lenses, they should not put them on from 7 to 10 days after the operation.

Liposuction

How does it work?
When we are born we have millions of fat cells in our body. These cells increase in number until we are totally matured; after this growth period they do not increase in number anymore, but when we gain weight they increase in size, consequently we get heavy and/or we get fat deposits in particular areas of our bodies. For male patients it is more frequent in the abdomen and "love handles", females usually get it in the thighs, hips and abdomen; of course we get it in every place of our bodies.     Since the adipose cells do not multiply in mature age, with liposuction we are eliminating them from the body and they are gone forever. Of course there are some cells left behind, but for these cells to be able to occupy the same volume before the liposuction, the person would really have to gain 30-40 lbs or more in the next couple of months or years. Liposuction is not a permission to go and overindulge yourself in food. We ask that you keep your weight as stable as possible.

Treatable Areas
Liposuction today is the most commonly requested cosmetic surgery in the world and can be performed at virtually any age and in any part of the body.
Patients commonly request this procedure to be performed on their neck, cheeks, jowls, abdomen, buttocks, thighs, hips, knees, ankles, calves and arms.
Liposuction is also used to correct enlarged male breasts, a condition known as gynecomastia. Liposuction can be performed alone or in conjunction with virtually any other plastic surgery procedure.
